control arms with pre fitted ball joints: moog versus oe
DID YOU KNOW: ADVICE FOR THE PROFESSIONAL
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MOOG AND OE?
In the OE market, some wishbone arms are sold as arm body structures (i.e. without ball joint) and customers should then complete it with a separately sold individual ball joint.
MOOG, with its problem-solving promise, supplies 'ready-to-fit' products to installers and instead proposes a complete solution where the correct ball joint has already been pre-fitted on the arm body - This way, customers only have to order one complete wishbone arm rather that two individual components to assemble afterwards.
Below is a typical example of a common Stellantis arm body, where two distinct ball joints can be fitted, based on the vehicles in which it is installed:

HOW TO FIND THE CORRECT MOOG PRODUCT FROM AN OE EQUIVALENT?
More and more installers are now using OE-linked databases (such as Partslink24 or other) to select parts needed for a given repair, since these systems allow a search by a VIN or license plate providing them a unique and uncompromised OE product as a result. An OE reference that they can then be entered into their usual aftermarket e-catalogue to find the MOOG equivalent product.
Neverthless, due to differences in product configurations (i.e. OE arm body structure vs MOOG assembled arm), any OE arm reference explained above will inevitably lead to two MOOG assembled control arms.
Here are some tips that will guide you to the correct MOOG arm selection:
