2001 bmw 740i timing guide failed
by bmw_740i on Oct 10 2018, 6:02 PMI have a 2001 bmw 740i and my timing guide failed ! I heard a raddle then a huge pow! and now I have all sorts of codes coming out. I want to know what is the safest way of investigating the motor because it's not an interference motor and so I do not want pour money on rebuilding and only to find out my motors is toast !
if anyone knows where and what I should look at to better make my decision about fixing it
thank you

From your post it sounds like timing chain broke. As far as testing engine short of a complete teardown, I would replace chain and guides and leave the covers off and perform a compression and leak-down test.
