I won't ever purchase a "house brand" filter. I normally stick with Wix. I have cut a couple different brands apart and inspected the guts, and lots of the house brand filters have thin/flimsy paper media inside, a couple weren't bonded either, just set into the grove and hoped to stay there, as well as some had no anti-drain back/by-pass valves. Wix was always more superior in content.

For the longest time I have always used WIX filters. When they are not available I will use Purolator Boss filters. When its time for an oil change, the oil doesn't look to bad on the way out.
