What works for me is after replacing the pump, rack, or power steering presure line. (if you dont have the Mighty vac adapter)
Fill reservoir to cold level and then with the front wheels off the ground. (DO NOT START THE CAR) Turn the steering wheel left then right stop to stop a few times Slowly that will push the air out with out foaming/airating the fluid(add fluid if needed). Recheck the fluid level then start the car.
Yes, there is a procedure that you would want to perform after replacing major components in the power steering system. You will need a couple of tools: GM part #’s J35555 (metal Mityvac) and power steering bleeding adapter J43485. Remove the reservoir cap and fill to cold level. Attach the adapter to the Mityvac and install adapter onto the reservoir. Apply 20” of vacuum and wait 5 minutes. Remove tools, reinstall the reservoir cap, start engine and idle. Turn off the engine, verify fluid level, and repeat bleeding if necessary until the fluid stabilizes.
