2010 Mercury Grand Marquis spring kit

by karrpilot on Mar 14 2019, 11:57 PM

I recently installed a strut masters coil spring kit to get rid of that problematic air suspension. In said kit, they said to make sure the ride height sensor was in the middle of the travel to insure the message center would not display an error message. I did that, and this didn't work. A call into strut masters said I have to now find out and trace down any trouble codes to fix my issue. Rear springs.

Is this correct? My last kit, I just pulled out a certain wire from the module connector, and the idiot light went out. Of course, that car was a 1995 LTD. The Ford wiring diagram shows this system on the data link. Please help!

I recently installed one of their rears spring kits on 2011 Expedition.  The kit came with a little module that was to be installed next to the rear suspension module.  Came with instructions, simply cut 2 wires to the vehicles rear suspension module and reconnect to the fooler module.  Worked like a charm.

I set the voltage on the sensor to 2.81 volts, cleared the code for the ride height sensor, and the idiot light has not come back on. A wire tie to keep the arm in place seems to be working.

A call into strut masters said basically the same thing. However, they also said I had to address any and all trouble codes. I have to fix what is flipping the code, and then put the ride height sensor in the middle of travel, and lock it into place. This will fool the system into thinking everything is ok.

I believe that the level sensor will change resistance as the level arm goes up & down. Take a DVOM & measure resistance. Once you figure out what the resistance should be in the middle of that range, sometimes you are able to disconnect the sensor & install the resistor in it's place.
