2013 Dodge Dart 1.4 turbo clutch won't bleed

by accurateauto on Sep 04 2018, 12:31 PM

Has anyone had one of these not bleed. Only air comes out, pedal never even tried to get better, only goes to the floor, can't pump it up even. The slave cylinder is leaking so I think it is ingesting air maybe.

If you have a brake flush machine try using it to "suck" the fluid thru the system then try to manually bleed.

I place the duct tape over the clutch master cylinder cap hole , thus sealing it.  Then poke a small hole in the duct tape and use a hand vacuum pump with a small adapter to the hole in the tape and pull a vacuum on the reservoir.  If you have an air gun with a syphon fitting you can use it to pull a vacuum.

    1986chevyman,

How is it that you pull a vacuum with the duct tape?

The bleed procedure is pretty specific & not typical. Look up the procedure & follow it. You will have to have a helper hold the pedal down while the bleed valve cap is opened. While the bleeder is opened & the helper is holding the clutch pedal, you have to press down on the retainer clip which opens the bleeder. You may have to do this a few times w/o running the master cylinder reservoir dry. Once you get it, then pump the pedal several times until the clutch build pressure. Experience is that it may have to do the whole process a few times or keep pumping for a few days until the air works its way out. Good luck.

If the slave cylinder is leaking, you need to replace it before trying to bleed the system.  When bleeding, I usually fill the reservoir with fluid and let it gravity bleed.  I then put duct tape over the reservoir and pull a vacuum which will help draw out any air.  Have good luck using this method.
