3.6L GM & Jeep Motors
by dandbperformance on Jun 06 2019, 2:31 PMHi all,
Within the last couple of years, we've noticed countless GM and Jeep vehicles come in with 3.6L engines complaining of various different CEL codes, engine noises, and even jumping time. We've taken apart four of these motors within the last two months (2 Chevys and 2 Jeeps) and we have another for a Jeep coming in next week. At first, we thought it might have been because the customers were going thousands of miles over on their oil changes. But then one of the Chevys came in and it was a customer who comes in hundreds of miles before they are due for an oil change and always asks us to do GM recommended maintenance for the mileage. So clearly, these motors are having issues regardless of how well maintenance and repairs are kept up with. All 4 of these vehicles have less than 100K miles on them. I guess I'm wondering how many of you have also come across issues with these motors? And also warning the rest of you about potential issues you may face with them! As a side note, the vehicles so far have been a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu, 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, 2013 Jeep Wrangler, and a 2009 Chevrolet Traverse. Next week will be a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Also the repairs have mostly been camshafts, timing chains and guides, valves, actuators, and head gaskets.
