Amsoil.. How many use it? likes> dislikes?
by bandit65 on Sep 10 2018, 10:17 PMlike the header says....Amsoil.. How many use it? likes> dislikes? lets have an honest discussion.. i have customers who like it and i use it myself in my sled. The most i have noticed was the there was not a nasty oil spot left in the snow and when i have had to tear down an engine there wasn't near the sludge in the crank case. i have notices a crisper throttle response.. thoughts??

I have in the past used Amsoil in a Race cars and truck that pulled my 5th wheel trailer. I the engine i built was 650hp in the car and i put lots of hard KM on that engine.
5 years later the guy i sold the car to wanted more HP and tore it down and found very little wear.
Im still using Amsoil in the truck im pulling my 5th wheel with.
I have never used Aimsoil, but I do know that synthetic engineered oils do have benefits. For example, my 94 Chevy truck with over 300,000 miles on it doesn't leak oil as bad when I ularuse Pennzoil High Mileage oil as opposed to the regular grade. Also extended mileage oil change intervals ( although personally I won't go over 5,000 mile oil change intervals on my own vehicles).
Actually oil is supposed to suspend sludge in its liquid as opposed to it sticking to the inside of the engine. So if and oil stays clean a long time, I do not think it is doing it's job.
I run Motorcraft full synthetic in my 2014 Ford Explorer. That's what Ford calls for, so that is what I use.
I believe extended oil change intervals ie 10,000 miles lead to timing chain stretch and other engine wear problems.
