Chevy Malibu wheel bearing

by randytu22 on Dec 20 2017, 12:49 AM

So we tried putting a wheel bearing in a 2010 chevy Malibu and the bearing didn't want to go on the axle. I have had problems like this before and would like to know if anyone Elsa has had a problem like this.

We use Timken bearing assemblies. We make sure that the knuckle and the axle splines are cleaned up before re-assembly

Yep, take the extra time to clean the axle stub really good and then use a good grease on the splines.Be careful NOT to get grease on the axle threads,it can affect the torque value of the axle nut.

Check type of bearings using.  I always use moog bearing and never have problem with any vehicle, but I just installed one on a 2010 Malibu last week with no problems

DId you have trouble removing the axle from the old bearing? If it's clean and lubed it should go in easily. Have you noticed is a specific brand of bearing that you are using?

Have you tried cleaning any rust from the axle splines? Spray some lubricant or penetrating oil on splines before inserting axle into bearing. If it’s still a bad fit, verify that it's the correct part number.
