Dirty battery cable ends

The best way I found to clean corroded battery cable ends is to fill a foam cup with hot water and add baking soda.  It dissolves the corrosion.  Another batter tip is to take an old rag and wet it with warm water and use it to clean the top and sides of the battery.  When batteries breather the vapor settles on the outside of the battery and this leads to corrosion starting.  If you keep it clean, you won't have a corrosion problem.

Also found that if you purchase the lower end batteries, you tend to get more sulfation & acid leaking through the posts. Use good quality parts & AGM batteries when possible & you will virtually eliminate corosion. I usually use the battery terminal cleaner spray from the auto parts store, let it set for a few minutes & then wash it off with water. Works great too.
