Benefits of forged pistons

Forged Pistons are ment for high performance applications. When they are forged there is a high content of Silicon in the piston making it more flexable under extreame conditions. A big thing in racing is when you are overrevving or too lean of a mixture Forged Pistons are more forgiveing then cast pistons because cast pistons are alot more brittle. Also the Silicon Allows less expansion of the piston and saves the cylender from some wear and lastly the forged piston when polished is alot smoother then a cast piston. For raceing applications Forged Pistons are the way to go but for most applicatons Cast pistons are alot cheaper and under normal use last around 200000 Miles.
