mechanic in a can

just wondering the pros and cons on seafoam, i hear of everybody using it and loving it but to the others who swear at it up and down calling it junk.

so im curious to what every body on here has to say about it.

personally i run it in everything and the only issue i see is that every 5th run or so i have to clean the carbs on my toys, but that could also have something to do with the lumpy cams and running a little too rich.

so like i said, let me know what you guys think. i have family who use it in their vehicles and never have an issue.

im just sceptical to put it in my cars

It is not our policy to add additives in general.  In special cases we do suggest it to our customers if they are having problems with water in the fuel, etc. or if they are reluctant to do an expensive fix on an old vehicle and the additive might get them a few extra miles out of the vehicle until they can afford to do the repairs or replace the car.  All in all, additives should not be used on a routine basis.

I prefer to run BG products, especially doing the fuel system service.

I like to run seafoam in the gas tank every once in a while. I have found it to help with collecting the water and burning it in vehicles that have been parking several months or if they got bad gas that is causing hard starts.

I have used it in small engines but never in auto engines.  It did help to make a few Briggs engines run better after the owner left the gas in it all winter.  But in most cases I would still have to clean the carb and not just pour some additive in the tank.   I used STP fuel injector cleaner every 3,000 miles in my personal car for years.  I stopped using it a few years back in that car just cause I got sick of spending the money on the additive.  I never noticed much of a difference.  In a auto that idles a lot or only gets driven a few short miles a day, more carbon build up, I could see using this product in the tank.  I would stay away from any alcohol based tank additives.
