Multimeter

by achavez5960 on Nov 08 2017, 9:19 PM

Starting to do electrical work. I just have a test light. Looking to purchase a multimeter. Since I'm just start I'm not trying to spend much. What would be a good starter meter?

I have my second Fluke 88 multimeter. My 1st one lasted 40 years It has the Min/Max function with is good for finding voltage drops.

The Power Probe Has Been The Most Useful Multi Meter I have Ever Used And Also Allows For the Quickest Trouble Shooting. It also Has A Switch to where you can Place Power where you want it to test switches motors sensors ect before doing other work.

Take a look at the Power Probe.  It works like a test light and volt / ohm meter

go to sears, good meter,  3 points after the decimal for volts (millivolts)and put a fuse in the positive lead less than the one in the tester.  in the beginning you always over due the amperage

Can't go wrong with Fluke brand products. Check eBay, and get you a decent meter for cheap.

The Fluke 323 clamp on meter looks like a good starter meter. I just saw one for less than a hundred dollars.
