develop and piston to make more power, performance , and less friction . keep the compression ring , create a scraper ring to oil and clean. less rings less friction? open to any ideas on this topic , just out thoughts.

You need all your oil and compression rings when putting a piston in an engine.  Make sure they seal properly and the ring gaps are in different spots.  Make sure your bore in correct taper and not out of taper or it will not funtion properly. Expect your piston to see if it has wear on one side compared tp the other. If so you will have to bore it out.

Most current engines utilize low friction/tension rings.

i also havent seen many newer vehilces have piston failuers. all of them are running very low friction piston rings

it also has alot to do with what metals the rings are made of

All the newer engines are already running very low friction rings.

I see where you're going.  However the way they are set up is at this time the optimum set up.  Less friction results in way less wear.  I have not seen many modern vehicles fail piston rings
