When Replacing spark plugs, I always blow shop air around them before removing them.  Then torque them to the proper torque specification.

Always blow air around plugs, and after removing , blow cylinder out. Always check gaps, and use anti seize, and dielectric grease on boots.

Another thing you should do is blow air into the cylinder hole with the spark plugs out, just in case anything would / did fall in when you took the plug out. And don't forget to smear anti seize on the threads of the new spark plugs prior to installation. Hand start every plug. This is no place for an air ratchet.
