Biography

Born March 28, 1989, Kelsey Rowlings has always lived a very active lifestyle. Throughout her earlier years she competed in multiple sports including swimming, track and field, and horseback riding. Entering high school, Kelsey began experiencing symptoms of extreme fatigue and swollen salivary glands. Without any explanation to her symptoms, Kelsey focused her energy on music and competitive horseback riding. In 2007, Kelsey graduated high school and received a scholarship to the University of Florida to study as a bassoon performance major. Around the same time, she discovered drifting and was immediately drawn to motorsports. Her freshman year in college was not the typical first year experience. Her symptoms worsened with the demanding college schedule, and towards the end of of her freshman year, she was finally given an answer to the symptoms that plagued her for the past 6 years; Kelsey was diagnosed with Sjogren’s Syndrome. Sjogren’s syndrome is an incurable, autoimmune disease where one’s immune system attacks its own healthy cells by mistake. While the diagnosis did answer a lot of questions, it also brought a lot of complications into Kelsey’s life and required several lifestyle changes. Kelsey continued to push herself as hard as she could despite the diagnosis, and drifting because an escape and a passion. After a few years of practice, she began to compete in Pro-Am competitions and worked her way up over the next few years, earning a Formula Drift Pro 2 license for the 2015 season.
